DBC Foodservice has launched a new premium, split-pack bacon product to strengthen and grow its meat offering and to help customers minimise wastage. dbc foodservice launches new bacon split pack

The innovative new dual-pack is the first of its kind in DBC’s range, forming part of ‘dbc label’, DBC’s own-label brand launched in January 2011. The pack is split into two smaller packs of either smoked or unsmoked bacon, enabling caterers to open one side at a time. This makes the pack design much more practical for caterers, increasing flexibility and therefore reducing waste.

The flexible product range is available now throughout DBC’s 12 regional depots in a 2.27kg smoked pack or 2.27kg unsmoked pack. The high quality bacon is produced to a high specification and is fully traceable from sources in the EU.

The launch of the new bacon product follows the appointment earlier this year of Rob McFarlane as commercial director, meats, who has 24 years of experience in the meat and poultry sector. McFarlane also launched the new premium red meat ‘Farmhouse Champion’ brand at the end of May, which is 100% British and sourced direct from farm. Customer feedback for this product has already exceeded all expectations.

Rob McFarlane, commercial director, meats, at DBC Foodservice, says: “I am delighted to announce the launch of the new ‘dbc label’ premium, split-pack bacon product. The split-pack feature is a first for DBC and possibly the foodservice sector. Our customers were asking for more versatility in our product offerings and our response adds genuine innovation to our popular meat offering.

“We are in continual dialogue with our customers to ensure our products meet their needs as well as responding to customer feedback. The new dual-pack enables caterers to keep enjoying meat of the highest quality but with increased flexibility, choice and shelf-life.”
